What's New

The new and improved features in each Alasin release, newest first. To get them on your site, see Updating; for every change in detail, including upgrade steps, see the release notes.

1.7.0 (20 October 2026)

  • Rename and move categories. Give a category a new name or address, or put it under another category. Every post and page that uses it follows along, and old links to the category keep working.
  • A test site for trying Alasin. A ready-made site full of sample posts, pages and photos, on its own web address, that’s updated automatically with every change to Alasin, so new versions can be tried before they’re released.

1.6.0 (20 October 2026)

  • Start a new site with one command. create-site makes everything a new site needs: the site itself, its storage for photos, its publishing and Alasin, ready to sign in.
  • A sample site to practise on, with posts, pages, photos and drafts, which can be put back to its starting point at any time.
  • New documentation, step by step, for setting up and looking after a site.

1.5.0 (18 October 2026)

  • New people show up at once. Someone who has just accepted an invitation to the site appears in Users right away.
  • Profile pictures update within minutes when someone changes theirs on GitHub, instead of up to two days later.

1.4.1 (18 October 2026)

  • Photos in use are recognised everywhere in the site’s content, so a photo used on a page isn’t offered for deletion.

1.4.0 (18 October 2026)

  • Delete unused photos. Photos that nothing uses any more can be deleted in Media. They go to the Bin first, so they can still be recovered.

1.3.0 (17 October 2026)

  • Safer editing together. When two people have the same post open, Alasin makes sure one can’t overwrite the other’s changes.

1.2.0 (17 October 2026)

  • Invite and remove people from the Users section, which takes you straight to the right place on GitHub.

1.1.0 (17 October 2026)

  • Tidier addresses for new sites: posts are kept in year folders and get dated addresses.
  • Your device’s drafts stay yours: other people’s saved drafts no longer appear under Only on this device.

1.0.0 (17 October 2026)

The first stable release. Write and publish posts and pages for your Hugo site from an iPhone, iPad or any browser:

  • Writing: an editor that formats as you type, with photos, galleries and videos; drafts saved as you go.
  • Photos: resized on your device, with location data removed, and stored on your site’s own storage.
  • Publishing: publish, unpublish, archive, and delete into a Bin you can recover from.
  • Organising: categories (also nested), tags, and a media library.
  • People: everyone who can write to the site’s repository can sign in with GitHub, and every post shows who wrote it.
  • In English and Finnish, in light and dark mode.
